Le programme Bachelor in Data science & Economics est un parcours hybride de type BBA qui offre une double compétence aux apprenants à la fin de la quatrième année : une compétence en analyse et utilisation de données, et en économie et finance. Ce parcours forme le nouvel économiste et financier capable d’analyser les données de masse liées à la conjoncture et préconiser des politiques de sortie de crise. L’étudiant aura un diplôme de type licence à la fin de sa troisième année, et un Bachelor de type Anglo-saxon à la fin de sa quatrième année ; ce qui lui facilitera une poursuite d’étude, niveau master 2 en France, ou de choisir un MBA de type américain.

Ce parcours insistera sur les fondamentaux de l’économie, la finance, l’économétrie, les bases de la programmation, et de l’environnement numérique (Cloud, Big data, Stata, R,…). Ce programme prépare les étudiants aux différents métiers des organismes internationaux (FMI, Banque mondiale, ONU, OCDE etc.), ou des grandes banques commerciales ou entreprises qui ont de plus en plus besoin de profils alliant compétences théoriques et maitrise des outils de travail modernes. Il n’est enseigné en France qu’au MPIT selon les compétences requises. Le programme est organisé sous le format LMD, avec le système de transfère de crédit européen, 30 crédits ECTS chaque semestre. Le système LMD est reconnu par tous les pays européens ce qui facilite l’internationalisation des études et la reconnaissance des diplômes. Le système LMD permet à tous les étudiants de poursuivre leur cursus dans une autre université en Europe et en Amérique.

Les enseignants dans ce parcours sont au minimum maitre de conférences des universités.

L’étudiant peut choisir d’aller en mobilité internationale dans l’une de nos universités partenaires au semestre 4 ou de rester au MPIT poursuivre son cycle.

This bachelor is at the intersection of economics, finance and data science, giving students theoretical and practical knowledge to tackle new challenges for the sake of entities and people. Students earn a European Bachelor at the end of the third year, and an American Bachelor at the end of their fourth year.

Skills and knowledge acquired by students at the end of the Bachelor program

  • Ability to provide adequate data analysis for decision-making problems in research, governments, firms, international organizations and NGOs.
  • Ability to analyze the decision-making problem through the combination of applied data science and economics frameworks.
  • Programming skills necessary to extract data from any source including text, images, social networks, geocodes and maps.
  • Use and program cutting edge machine learning and econometric tools to analyze the resulting data.
  • Gain expertise in database management and distributed processing in a cloud computing environment.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the differences between correlation and causality and why this is crucial for optimal decision-making.
  • Communicate data analysis results effectively through presentation and aesthetic charting skills.
  • Ability to approach problems from different angles and to be aware of complementarities in knowledge on interdisciplinary teams.

These solid and up-to-date backgrounds give students the opportunity to complete a Master degree (60 credits) in highly recognized institutions that offer Master programs in Data Science. And by the way, of course, MPIT will settle some understandings with those institutions and will assist students if they wish to obtain a double degree with MPIT and one of them.
